Collected in order: things you worry about before installing, then things you get stuck on while using it.
No. We haven't yet bought a code-signing certificate, a paid certificate (about 200,000 KRW a year), so Windows asks about an "unknown publisher". Click More info in the warning and a Run anyway button appears. Once we get the signature, this box will go away.
Adware Scan and removal, the cleanup features, and every diagnosis are free. Only the "Fix" buttons in the network, printer, update, shared folder, device and slow-startup repairs, deep recovery of deleted files (one-time and 1-year passes), and Scheduled Cleanup that runs on its own at a set time (1-month and 1-year passes) are paid. Restoring from the Recycle Bin is free. This once is 2,900 KRW; Connection Repair, which covers only network, shared folder and printer on one PC with no expiry, is 4,900 KRW; 1 month is 3,900 KRW; 1 year is 19,900 KRW (about 1,658 KRW a month). How to do it yourself is in the guide for free. We set it at about a tenth of what a technician charges to fix it over remote access (20,000–30,000 KRW). Details are on the Fix Pass page.
For a one-time pass, if the re-check after fixing shows the same result, you get a full refund. For 1-month and 1-year passes, if you haven't pressed Fix even once within 7 days you get a full refund; if you have, we deduct the one-time price (2,900 KRW) for each use and refund the rest. There is no auto-renewal and no automatic billing. We don't take card details, so we couldn't charge you even if we wanted to. When the period ends the program simply goes back to being free, and when you want it again you buy it again at the same price. We don't offer a cheap first year and raise the price at renewal.
Inside the program window: one banner slot at the bottom and one line of text at the top. No ads pop out of the window, no ad site opens when you close the program, and no browser opens unless you click. When an affiliate ad is shown, a note that we earn a commission appears next to it. Those ads are what keep it running.
On launch it fetches the ad list, and the only thing it sends is the program version number. No files, scan results or personal data. The server keeps only daily totals of how many times the program was launched and how many times ads were shown and clicked, and IP addresses aren't stored. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. Windows 7, 8, XP and 32-bit versions are not supported. No separate runtime needs to be installed.
(GoClean and ALYac are popular Korean free cleanup and antivirus programs.) Finding and removing the program behind ad pop-ups by its "fingerprint in browser history and settings", measuring where your network is broken, and Printer Rescue are things no other free program has. Basic features like startup programs, cleanup and temperature are similar. It isn't an antivirus, so it doesn't do real-time virus monitoring. You can use it alongside your antivirus.
Scans run with normal permissions, and it asks for administrator permission only at the moment it removes or fixes something. That's why "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?" appears once each time you press Fix. The rest of the time it doesn't run as administrator.
Yes. Before removing, settings are saved to the backup folder in your Documents folder and files are sent to the Recycle Bin. Restore from the Recycle Bin and double-click the backup file, and it comes back. But if another cleanup program empties the Recycle Bin, that's permanent, so if you might want to undo, wait a few days first.
No. Bank, government and payment security programs and programs from well-known makers are excluded from the scan from the start. It won't touch them unless ad pop-up traces point directly at them.
Turn on Watch Mode on the home screen. The next time an ad pop-up appears, it records which program opened the browser. Scan again after that and the record is attached as evidence, so the culprit gets caught. If the ads come as browser "notifications", remove them from the notification permissions list in Adware Scan.
The items ticked by default (switch to private network, turn on discovery service, set priority) only matter inside your home or office and aren't visible from the internet. Only one, "Enable legacy device compatibility", lowers security slightly, so it's off by default and labelled to be turned on only when you can't reach an old multifunction printer or NAS.
Usually that PC has its sharing door closed. Network Check marks such PCs as "sharing closed" and creates a "share opener file" to double-click on that PC. Copy it to a USB stick and run it over there. If it asks for that PC's Windows account and password when you connect, that's normal.
Windows has no official feature that reports CPU temperature. Other programs install a separate driver to read it, but that driver is blocked by Windows Security over a security issue, so we left it out. We only show temperatures Windows itself reports.
Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps → uninstall PC Buster. Everything the program added is removed; only the backup folder stays in your Documents folder.
Email the address on the Contact page. Include three things and we'll fix it fast: which screen you were on, what you clicked, and what message appeared. A screen capture is even better.
